Museums play a vital role in housing memories, and they must be responsible for ensuring the memories presented are not selective. Staff from the Learning Department at the Royal Ontario Museum will share their humble efforts to decolonize and indigenize educational programming, pedagogies, and systems. The department aims to assist visitors in fostering compassion and critical reflection about the social injustices still endured by Indigenous populations today who have been displaced in their own lands. Join us for a discussion how departmental strategic priorities and systemic changes must be addressed in tandem to authentically engage Indigenous communities in this era of reconciliation.
